Episode 9: Gimme Shelter Recap

Guest Judge: Rachel Roy, Designer

The designers head to the great outdoors to discover the details, and materials, for their new challenge. In pairs, they must create one avant-garde look and one ready-to-wear look. The drive to win forces the designers to prove the lengths they will go to for fashion. In the most surprising twist of the series, the remaining designers find out that they are not alone in the woods. American sportswear designer Rachel Roy joins the judging panel for the runway show.
Rachel Roy approaches the design of her eponymous collection with a feminine and modern point of view. In Fall 2004, she applied her sophisticated aesthetic to her own collection, Rachel Roy, which debuted in department and specialty stores for Spring 2005. The collection quickly garnered the attention of press and celebrities for its striking silhouettes, sophisticated color palette and inventive pairings for day and eveningwear. To date, the Rachel Roy collections are available at Saks Fifth Avenue, Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, Henri Bendel’s and a variety of specialty stores worldwide.

And I fully agree with bringin' the loosers back. What you're like, HAHA just kidding... and especially the ones that JUST lost. If you are going to bring anyone back it should be the ones who actually deserve a chance to prove themselves again... ummmm... like Baylor maybe. He was awesome and he had less opportunity to show his shit than the other two sho F-ed it all up too many times.

Well, regardless, I'm glad as hell to still see Sunny and Jessica on there. Adejoke has some serious talent, just not the confidence, tolerance and ambition for this kind of competition. I think she'll totally do awesome as a designer in a different way.

I know this website ruins it for you, but you don't have to look. Really I mean, there's selective viewing and if you haven't watched the episode yet and come to this site then really, WTF do you expect.

Let's admit it folks, we're all in it for the drama... the cat fights... the bitching... the details... those looks Genevieve gived people, you know, when her eyes pop out of her head. You and me love to love and love to hate them all.

Wether we know who wins or looses, it's HOW it all goes down that we watch it for and you all know it. Or you wouldn't be commenting on such a site like me under an anonymous name, now would you?

Suck it up and watch the rest. You know you will!

P.S. said: I'm watchin' the rest of this season, and it's so unlike me to watch a TV show regularly. But it's totally tunred into a reality TV show and I didn't get sucked in to have it turn into that. I guess that gets you watching though, like a soap opera, and when it comes to TV, it's al about the ratings, so however you have to suckem' in. It's like Project runway turned sold out, big time. Probably did a long time ago in previous episodes and thank god I didn't waste my time on those as well.

It's clearly about the drama and nothing about the actual sense of fasion.

Advise to all the designers, wether I liked them or not as a person, or their designs for that matter... Find your fame somewhere else, this is humiliating and disgraceful to your dreams.

And to whoever wins (cause you probably already read your lines as to what you're supposed to say when the last episode is aired) a hundred thousand might seem like a lot, and the whole Canadian Idol of fasion might be yours for a glorious moment in life. But it really isn't much at all when it comes to the real deal.

Life isn't like on TV, I hope it was at least fun.

Gene's skirt was horrendous. I cannot believe she and Kim received any sort of compliments on their "designs" - perhaps I'm out of touch with AG, but their pieces looked so disgusting.

Adejoke's jumpsuit was THE most adorable piece! I really wish I could have it! It's so unique and so flattering - loved it so very much.

Well I guess the top three will be Sammy, Jessica, and friggin poor-fit Jason. UNLESS they bring back Adejoke in a surprise twist! That would be justice, but also make this show more of a joke.

I am disappointed.

This is a great lesson for Jason and Genevieve. When they go out in the real world, they were taught that its okay if you suck and no one likes your design, because there'll always be a second chance. And im great that people everyone whose watching this show, understand that its okay to fail miserably in front of your peers, because in the end, you can always take their spot.

Also, incredibly lame for Adejoke to leave because her design was awesome and Kim's was garbage. She left the runway after producing her BEST work? And two people come back after being voted off? This show is incredibly stupid and ridiculous. Adejoke would never work with Kim in the real world, so why vote her off based on the outcome of their team?

What i've learnt!!!

1)You can always get second chances in life, so don't worry if you fail.
2)Even if you produce your best work, and get comments from everyone, theres still a chance you'll fail(see lesson 1)

Upset said: Ok, so I miss this episode, because of earth hour, and so I watch it here. I wish I hadn't! Why do the others get to come back? ...Ok, so Jason is my third pick, but, he had to go at some point. I'm happy Kim left, because all she knows how to do is talk trash. She's even a bad designer. But for Adejoke to go with her? That's not fair! And, since when do you get a second chance in life? I just had a race, and I was 4 seconds slower than normal, which kept me from the finals. They didn't say, "oh, that was a bad race, go again to do better" Like hello?

We were extremely upset that she was not removed sooner, if not JUST for her mean treatment towards fellow designers.

We are truly upset that Adejoke left because of Kim. We may not be following this or future episodes, if they remain trashy like they have turned....
The designers should be expected to behave decently towards the judges, and each other.

re. the nastiness, seems a canadian thing - watch chelsea on catwalk (UK, but she was canadian), almost as bad as kim..

not really happy about it, but i'm sure they have contractual obligations to be filled - it just seems unfair for Adejoke because i know she would have made good competition for the final three - and would have done it with class

to runway junkie: i know what you mean about nastiness from canadians, but if you notice the 2 most offensive contestants were Genevieve and Kim and they were both from Vancouver - i live in Van and have noticed for years how flaky and rude the people are here - they all think they're perfect and deserve the world

...and i'm sorry but Jason has yet to demonstrate actual talent in the competition - the post-it note dress was proof of his lack of actual design talent, not to say he lacks talent in other areas - i just don't think he deserves to be considered for the final three

this show has really gone off course
